An EraLoom Film is a guided legacy recording designed to preserve a person’s voice, stories, and life lessons with dignity. It’s not a performance or a documentary. It’s a calm, structured conversation shaped using prepared prompts and thoughtful editing so families inherit something deeply personal and lasting. 

Yes - and this is very common.
EraLoom sessions are designed for people who have never been filmed before. We use gentle prompts, move slowly, and prioritize comfort over production. Most storytellers forget the camera within minutes. 

We guide each session using prepared questions aligned to the L.E.G.A.C.Y. Method™, so storytellers are never put on the spot. You don’t need polished stories - just lived experience. 

Most Essential and Signature sessions last about 90 minutes, including breaks.
Heirloom films may include multiple shorter sessions to avoid fatigue. We always move at the storyteller’s pace. 

Yes. Family members are welcome to be present off-camera, and in some cases may join on-screen if appropriate to the package and format. We’ll discuss this during the preparation call. 

Depending on the package, films may include:

• Predetermined family stories
• Narrated photo and document reviews
• Messages or lessons for future generations 

We help you choose what feels right - nothing is forced.

Photos are integrated through narrated review, where the storyteller explains who is pictured, what mattered, and what the image represents. Families often tell us this is one of the most meaningful parts of the film. 

Our approach is trauma-aware and respectful. While meaningful emotions sometimes surface, we never push into uncomfortable territory. Breaks are always offered, and topics can be skipped at any time. 

Perfect recall is not required. Eraloom honors perspective over precision. What matters most is their voice and experience, not exact dates or details. 

Most films are delivered within 4–8 weeks after recording. Heirloom projects may take slightly longer due to length and complexity. You’ll receive clear timelines upfront. 

You’ll receive:

Heirloom packages include additional archival options.

Your family retains full ownership and private viewing rights. EraLoom never shares films publicly without explicit written permission. 

You will have the most control over the pre-production part of the process when package, format, subject matter, and featured storyteller is determined. Yes. Sessions are typically filmed at a community partner's location or the storyteller’s home or residence. Travel is included within the service area; extended travel may be added for Heirloom packages. 

Absolutely. EraLoom Films are often gifted for milestone birthdays, anniversaries, retirements, or family reunions. Gift certificates are available.
